Caravan Awards 2024 - Best Lightweight and Compact Caravan

false

“It’s easy to quantify a tourer if you simply look at figures relating to size and weight, but our winner had to have special appeal as well as being light in weight and compact in size.

“At just 1,070kg MTPLM and with a body length of 3.8m, the Xplore 304 gets a very bold tick in both lightweight and compact boxes. But caravans don’t win awards on figures alone – and this extraordinary little caravan has many elements that combine to make it a very special model.”

"The layout is ingeniously designed, to provide beds for four – and an L-shaped lounge that feels surprisingly spacious, given the caravan’s diminutive dimensions. The lounge transforms into a double bed, and the two-person dining area, tucked away in the offside corner, can be made into two bunk beds. The top bunk folds down from the wall.

“In between the dining area and the lounge sits the fridge, with the wardrobe on top of it; an ingenious way of cramming both elements into the confines of a small caravan.”

“All you need is here – a combined oven/grill, a three-burner hob, three drawers and two cabinets for kitchen storage, and a hinged extension to the kitchen surface.”

“The shower shares the compartment with the toilet. And here is another ingenious design feature: the circular washbasin sits on a curved base that provides just enough space to place shampoo bottles and the like, plus there’s a soap tray attached to the shower riser bar.”

“Many caravan layouts conform broadly to patterns, but the Xplore 304 is one on its own; totally unique.”

“This cute little caravan has full four-berth credentials and is equally suitable for a couple who want a permanent dining area as well as a lounge/bedroom.”
